Why did you start your business/businesses?
I originally started Dachshund Station because I wanted to work from home and be my own boss. I also have young children, so I need to be available when they need me. So it is much more convenient for me to work from home.
What is your role?
I do everything. I create my blog content, my website design, social media marketing, photoshop, you name it...
What makes your business unique?
My website focuses on Dachshunds and their owners. I have raised dachshunds for 15 years, so I enjoy sharing unique training tips and stories with other dachshund owners.
How old is your business?
I started my business in January 2018.
What do you sell/offer?
I offer completely free training and care advise through my blog content. I am an affiliate for dog-related products through a few companies like amazon and sausage dog central.
Do you own any pets yourself? What are they and who are they?
Yes, I currently have a senior dachshund/beagle mix named Bastian and a 10-month-old dachshund puppy named Eko.
What is your favorite part about running a business?
I'm doing all of this hard work by myself, for myself. When my kids were old enough to go to school, I wanted to do something that would help me feel important and productive. I learn something new every day in this business. It keeps me busy, happy, and I love it!
If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
It helps to have some background experience with website design. There are lots of tools out there to help you along, but it does take time...so you will need patience. A good thing takes time.
What is your greatest achievement yet within the pet industry?
I'm gradually increasing my views and sessions little by little. I feel like this year it is finally starting to show and pay off. I'm pretty proud that the results are looking positive.
